Xylotrupes gideon — Brown Rhinoceros Beetle

A formidable rhinoceros beetle characterised by its glossy dark reddish-brown body and extraordinary forked horns.

Displayed with its flight wings fully extended, Xylotrupes gideon reveals the delicate golden-amber wings normally concealed beneath its hardened elytra, creating a dramatic contrast with the beetle’s heavily armoured body and sculptural horn structure. Male Xylotrupes gideon use their distinctive horns when competing with rival males. 

Displayed in a deep 5 × 7 inch black shadow box frame with white backing.
